THE GORGES DU TARN AND THE CAUSSES

AN IDEAL DESTINATION FOR RECONNECTING WITH NATURE

Discovering unspoilt nature

Explore the typical villages and breathtaking landscapes of the Causses and Cévennes and discover this magnificent region.

Discovering the Gorges du Tarn

Located at the start of the Gorges du Tarn, in the Aveyron département, the Gorges du Tarn villa is the ideal holiday base for exploring this magnificent site, one of the most prestigious in France.

From the villa, you can follow the departmental road 907, which runs alongside the Tarn and winds its way along the limestone cliffs, taking you past small villages and hamlets to Sainte Enimie , listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France.

You can return via the Gorges de la Jonte, crossing the Causse Méjean and the village of Meyrueis before arriving at Le Rozier, just a few minutes from the villa.

The panoramas of the Gorges, Causses and Cévennes: breathtaking views

Around ten kilometres from the villa, you can enjoy impressive views over the narrower parts of the Gorges du Tarn: these include the sublime point and the Hourtous rock.

A little further afield, but just as accessible, you can follow the mythical corniche des Cévennes, or take the road from the village of Meyrueis up to the summit of Mont Aigoual, from where you can enjoy a panorama of ¼ of France: from Mont Ventoux to Mont Blanc, from Canigou to Pic Midi, from the Chaîne des Puys to the Mediterranean Sea… horizons rarely seen before you.

The vulture, King of the cliffs

An endangered species in the region since the 19th century, vultures have now re-colonised the cliffs of the Gorges du Tarn and of la Jonte.

You can watch their majestic flights from your terrace, and if you’d like to see them even closer, you can visit the Maison des Vautours, just a few kilometers from the village of Le Rozier.
